These series 700 and 7000 units employ a standard control system developed in part by Dime Water Inc. engineering. They consist of separate cation and anion tanks made of fiberglass and are regenerated with commercially available 30% hydrochloric acid and 50% liquid caustic soda. Regenerate chemicals are used directly from the shipping containers with no need for mixing or measurement, which minimizes the dangers of handling. Units can be put into regeneration by means of a warning signal and a push button in their simplest form, or can be fully automated to regenerate based on a water quality decline. Systems can be supplied that a regenerate the anion sacrificially with water from the cation tank or a softened water source. Alternating systems are also available that provide an uninterrupted deionized water flow. Product water quality is a function of feed water quality but is usually in the range of 50,000 to 500,000 ohms (20 to 2 micro siemen) When the feed water is R.O. permeate, qualities of 2,000,000 ohms (0.5 micro siemen) are obtainable.
Custom units with steel tanks, special valves, custom controls, PLC controllers, sulfuric acid cation regeneration, higher flows and special resins are available.
MIXED BED DEIONIZERS: 5 TO 100 GALLON PER MINUTE
With both resins mixed within a single tank, proximity and the laws of mass transfer cause a much higher removal of dissolved (cations and anions) in the water. Typical results are in the 10,000,000 to 18,000,000 ohm (0.1 to 0.55 micro siemen) range. These units are most commonly found as post treatment to either a two-column deionizer or a reverse osmosis unit. Water of such extremely high resistivity (low conductivity) is used in the pharmaceutical or electronic industries. After regeneration of the resins, they must be re-mixed. A clean high volume of air is required for this very important step.
All mixed bed units are custom built with rubber or epoxy lined steel tanks. Control systems are designed in concert with the customer. Calculated water chemistry of the finished water is provided with quotations.
